Blessings

Detailed below are Blessings modified from the rules presented in HotB in order to make them more applicable in LARP play. All other blessings remain as presented in HotB. Additionally any new Blessings made available during play will be listed below.

General Rules

When the rules for Blessing below say that you use your Devotion rank, it specifically refers to the ranks in Devotion to the Suaven that granted you that Blessing.

Bear Blessings

Alone, We Stand Together (HotB, p. 314)

A number of Bear characters equal to the Devotion rank of the Bear performing this blessing can lend their Strength Virtue and any Style Points they wish to spend as a wager towards a single Strength-based Contest. This Blessing costs one Style Point per character.

Bear Crushes Serpent (HotB, p. 314)

Spend a Style Point to prevent your opponent from invoking their Wisdom for a single Wisdom-based Contest.

I Brought the Bear (HotB, p. 315)

Spend a Style Point to double your Strength for a single Strength-based Contest.

Elk Blessings

Elk Outwits the Wolf (HotB, p. 316)

Spend a Style Point to prevent your opponent from invoking their Prowess for a single Prowess-based Contest.

No Secret is Safe from Me (HotB, p. 316)

When in a Contest, you may spend a Style Point to force your opponent to wager first and tell you their total wager. Once they do so they cannot not add to their wager in any fashion. You then spend Style Points towards your wager as normal.

I Have Never Been Defeated (HotB, p. 317)

Spend a Style Point to double your Cunning Virtue for a single Cunning-based Contest.

Falcon Blessings

The Falcon Knows no Fear (HotB, p. 318)

Spend a Style Point to use your Courage in place of any other Virtue in a Contest unless that Virtue is your weakness.

My Courage is Enough (HotB, p. 319)

Spend a Style Point when someone uses a blessing to prevent you from using a Virtue in a Contest. Your may use your Courage instead of that Virtue.

Fox Blessings

The Black Kiss (HotB, p. 319)

The rank of injury inflicted by the Black Kiss is equal to your Devotion rank divided by two and rounded up. If you actually kiss the target they suffer a rank 5 injury regardless of your ranks in Devotion.

Fox Tricks the Elk (HotB, p. 320)

Spend a Style Point to prevent your opponent from invoking their Cunning for a single Cunning-based Contest.

The Most Subtle Weapon (HotB, p. 320)

The target of the Subtle Weapon may spend a Style Point once per event to add a wager equal to your Beauty Virtue to any Contest.

Serpent Blessings

A Moment of Insight (HotB, p. 321)

Spend a Style Point to double your Wisdom for a single Wisdom-based Contest.

I’ve Forgotten More Than You’ll Ever Know (HotB, p. 321)

Spend a Style Point if you lose a Wisdom-based Contest to someone and you weren’t the one who insisted. You also gain privilege in this Contest. Your opponent stats their truth, then you state a truth about or related to their truth.

Serpent Knows the Fox (HotB, p. 321)

Spend a Style Point to prevent your opponent from invoking their Beauty for a single Beauty-based Contest.

The Softest Spot (HotB, p.322)

The weakness revealed becomes a tag with a rank equal to your Devotion that you can call against the target, much like an Injury rank. If revealed to another so they can use it, the tag is only worth half your ranks in Devotion, rounded up.

Wolf Blessings

The Beauty of Violence (HotB, p. 322)

Spend a Style Point when entering into any Prowess-based Contest. If you win the Contest, you can recoup a number of Style Points you spent in that Contest up to an maximum of your Devotion rank.

The Sacrifice Strike (HotB, p.323)

Spend a Style Point when entering into a Cut-Throat Duel. Reduce your pool of Style Points by an amount equal to or less than your Devotion rank, your opponent must give up an equal number of Style Points from their pool.

The Subtle Hand (HotB, p. 323)

Spend a Style Point to double your Prowess virtue for a single Prowess-based Contest if you are fighting with two swords.

Teeth and Claws (HotB p. 323)

Spend a Style Point to invoke this blessing as you enter into a Mass Murder or a Hunt. After everyone else has had privilege, yourself included, you gain privilege once again and may take another action.

Your Fear is My Ally (HotB, p. 324)

Spend a Style Point when entering a Cut-Throat Duel. You opponent must either lose an amount of Style Points from their pool equal to your Devotion rank or concede the duel.

Wolf Downs the Elk (HotB, p. 324)

Spend a Style Point to prevent your opponent from invoking their Cunning for a single Cunning-based Contest.
